These are elementary school children who woke up this morning. Who ate their favorite cereal. Who tied their shoes in double knots. Who laughed with friends on the bus. Now more than a dozen are dead. This isn’t normal. It doesn’t have to be this way. It can’t keep being this way

Charter schools and private schools aren’t required to admit every child. They aren’t required to have a SpEd program or make accommodations. Public schools are required to accept every child and meet their needs…defunding public schools threatens the most vulnerable kids.

My admin just stopped me to share that a mom stopped by grateful for the time I spent with her daughter yesterday. She said that it’s the first time she didn’t come to school dressed all in black, and seemed so much happier. The power of student connection! #schoolcounseling
