@alketrolyat @loafingcactus This is a great search tool through the American Institute for Conservation to find a local conservator with the specialty you’re looking for: culturalheritage.org/about-conserva…

@alketrolyat @loafingcactus That looks like foxing to me! Unfortunately the treatment for that is above my skill level. A professional conservator would know the best treatment that won’t damage the ink of the print. (I believe it involves washing/treating the paper in certain chemicals.)

@alketrolyat As long as the mold is inactive/not growing anymore, I’d recommend the eraser first!

Every fabric that isn’t made from a natural fiber (silk, cotton, linen, rayon, wool, etc.) or material (leather, fur) is made from petroleum. Polyester, acrylic, nylon, spandex...they’re all fossil-fuel derived plastics.

@wellEmber @aparadoxinflux Not currently, but MuseWeekly is a great weekly job newsletter museumstudies.udel.edu/museweekly/. And I set up keyword email alerts on USAjobs and LinkedIn for when new jobs were posted on my job hunt. Good luck!

@wellEmber @spiffykt @CarterBrulee @DrAerabelle Seconding what @FloraSparksXO said! My travel sewing machine is a second hand Bernina and it’s an amazing workhorse. I find mechanical sewing machines to be less complicated/easier to repair than many of the computerized ones.

@wellEmber My doctor gave me printouts of the before/after pictures of my bilateral salpingectomy! She said “I looked like the kind of person who’d want to see” and I’m taking that as a compliment, lol
