Here's a #MakeItMath game! Choose an object, identify its color, ask your child to find other objects of the same color. Then count how many they found. Have your child find things that match in color, shape, feel (soft, hard, bumpy) #MathAtEDC #ECE #earlymath

Don't assume kids "get it" just because they are getting correct answers. Ask students to represent their thinking in several different ways (models, words, graphs, tables, equations), to analyze and reflect. Knowing HOW is not the same as UNDERSTANDING #iteachmath #mtbos

I think being 'hard' on a student is telling them they are capable of relentless excellence and I'll accept nothing less. You think being 'hard' on a student is giving them a zero on a late assignment to teach them a life lesson. We are not the same.
