When it approaches May you have to be a little more creative in math class. I took my @eureka_math lesson on elapsed time, changed a few words on the problem set, and “took” my students to @WaltDisneyWorld @Disney #math

My third graders are using Canva to create digital presentations of their research. It amazes me to watch these kiddos and their creativity and their knowledge. #futureleaders #technology
PBL is a great way to enhance learning! Here, students are researching an animal using Google Expedition. They will apply those skills and knowledge of area and perimeter to create a zoo habitat for the animal.
Research studies consistently show that students learn more when exposed to a content-rich, knowledge-building curriculum that features coherent topics and a logical progression of skills and content.

We started learning about attributes of shapes. I thought it was a good idea to wear this shirt until I was asked 987 times why I was wearing a dorito. Can we say valuable teaching moment?! 😂
Using chocolate chips and cupcake liners to “bake” up some fact families. This activity helped reinforce that connection between multiplication and division that I had felt some were struggling with. #realworldconnections #math @eureka_math
I’m trying to incorporate more authentic digital opportunities. Students loved Rounding Roadtrip. They chose 5 places they wanted to visit. Then, using Google Maps, found the distance and rounded to the nearest tens.

This was the perfect 3 act task to help connect our current learning (customary units of measurement) to our previous unit (multiplication and division). Students really had to use those thinking skills! @gfletchy
Math or treat!! Students had 3 challenges solving word problems using multiplication and division. The fourth challenge was optional (and just added fun)and their favorite… mystery touch bags! I hope I can foster their LOVE for math and build their confidence!

The great @LTexas1 shared leveled word problems using “puzzling pieces.” As students complete one problem, thinking is extended by giving a more rigorous problem (in this case 2 step word problems from Eureka squared). Great team building as well! @KaganOnline @eureka_math

We used Oreo cereal and Cookie Crisp (two different types of “cookies” in our bakery) to help us learn the Distributive property. @eureka_math
Cookie cereal and Cheerios make great cookie and doughnut manipulatives for students to use to make arrays and groups.
