@Jonas2001113 @StatisticUrban Very true! Here in Arkansas, dems have a chance of breaking the 3/4 rep supermajority in the state house which will allow them to block budget bills to stop funding for private school vouches, a new mega prison, etc.

@electionsjoe Live in Arkansas and it’s very intense. They’ve been running anti-Shoffner & pro-Cotton ads since 2 weeks after she won the primary in March. Gotten much more frequent in recent weeks. Also tons text outreach, getting several a week. Haven’t seen this here since 2014.

@real_nickfortun @kirawontmiss Some states have stopped this. AR passed the Good Neighbor Act, where any restaurant, grocery store, religious institution, etc. can’t be held liable for illnesses from donated food unless it was “a direct result of gross negligence, recklessness, or intentional misconduct”.

@AliciaGagn38080 @berniemoreno @AmericanAir DCA is American hub so they have maintenance facilities and techs on site. Much easier to fix there versus having them land in CLE then having to send a maintenance crew, parts, etc.

@VoteMarsha I’ve never heard a conservative bemoan the lack of Democratic representation in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Montana, West Virginia, Nebraska, or Idaho.

@JShamrock169819 @harryjsisson @BrilynHollyhand Ohio, Missouri, and North Carolina also did redistricting without a vote of the citizens. Like it or not, only the Dem states of California and Virginia sent it to the voters to decide.

@MisherKenneth @JoshuaRush Nope. They (and California) let the citizens vote on it. Meanwhile Texas, Ohio, Missouri, and North Carolina (all of the Republican states) did not.

@RedVictoryGop @PollTracker2024 It’s to eliminate the need for a runoff election in case 3 or more candidates run. In the event no one gets 50% the “runoff” is on the November general election ballot.

@TheDudeAbideszz @BashbrothersLSU @jay_dale @OdellVeda47695 @nicksortor @dallasnews True, but left them out since they only have 1 district statewide so can’t blame gerrymandering for those. Same with Vermont and Delaware for dems.

@lorem_ipsum_93 @TrueSlazac Hillary Clinton was still quite popular in Arkansas at the time. At the time the filing period closed, she was still widely expected to be the dem nominee for President, and the state Republican Party thought they wouldn’t even have a chance with her at the top of the ticket.

@johnbrummett Interesting that Womack is fairing best in Sebastian county even though it’s more Republican than Benton/Washington counties and not his home area.

@DustinT3232 @TJMcChristian @DaBunchlet @ChiefXTroll @rep_stevewomack @CongMikeSimpson Well Fayetteville is certainly blue and Fort Smith is to a degree at least at the local level. With those being the two largest cities in the district, I’d definitely say it’s a purple area especially compared to the state as a whole.

@GregYarbrough Are they 5800 short of qualifying outright or 5800 short to qualify for the 30 day cure period to gather more signatures?

@GregLeding If they get 75% of the required signatures do they get an extra 30 days to gather signatures? Or does that provision only apply to initiated acts and constitutional amendments?

@GregLeding When there is no objection to rolling the vote, why does the Secretary have to read through all of the senators names? Can they not just mark everyone as yes without that and then ask who wants to change their vote to save time?

@GregLeding Do you think there’s any chance SB 306 will pass in the house now that SHS has announced she’s against it?

@brianros1 Maybe population plays a role? SC population is roughly half of NC and GA. Starting in a smaller state may help level the playing field for lesser-known candidates and those with less fundraising since smaller media markets have cheaper TV ads, less field staff is needed, etc.
