On May 28, 2021, a vet from Lap of Love stopped by my house and gave Nibbler a comfortable end. Too soon for me but the right time for her. Goodbye, my fluffy companion.

In November of 2020, Nibbler was diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and chronic kidney disease. At first, the conditions were manageable, and Nibbler had many good days, with only a few bad ones. But over the course of months, the conditions took their toll, and new ones cropped up.

Nibbler knew she was a good-looking cat and somehow knew how to pose. Her favorite position was a cross-legged Sphinx.

At various times, I've found her in places that I still can't figure out how she got to. Once, inside a laundry basket on the top shelf of my closet. Another time, in the attic (despite the entrance being a hole in the ceiling and there being no nearby jumping point).

Nibbler was a troublemaker. Once after wondering where a few items went, I found her hiding something under the couch--only to discover a pair of calipers, a few SD cards, some cable ties, and a tube of thermal paste. After that she kept to smaller items like pens and coins.

When I brought her to my parents to visit, she first showed their dogs who is boss, and who has to walk around who. But after the initial negotiation they were on friendly terms and would happily snooze in the same room. Nibbler even allowed a little butt-sniffing.

Nibbler was a solitary kitty but she made friends along the way. Patrick the tuxedo cat was her friend at the vet.

Nibbler was not quite a lap kitty but she was a constant companion. She watched TV with me, watched video games, investigated my electronics projects, and really everything else. When she wanted something she'd stand in front of my monitor and wait.

My grandparents were not up to caring for a cat full-time, but I had just moved into my own condo and always loved cats. So they gave the new kitten to me, and I named her Nibbler because she liked to chew on fingers as a sign of affection (and because I liked Futurama).
