@pattonoswalt @katiepdf I think bukowski is also a cultural artifact of how bad masculine toxicity can go. Like, *this* bad.
@pattonoswalt Shit, now I’m tempted to read some of his poetry to see how bad it is. It’s like when my sister and I went to Kroger’s with our mom when we were kids. We would go to the refrigerated foods and sniff the Limburger cheese, all the while laughing and saying “Peeew!”
@pattonoswalt Bukowski is weirdly sentimental for me. My sister, her now husband and their drug dealer drove me to college listening to a cassette of him reading his own poetry. I felt grown up and cool. I was -- not. Either of those things.
@pattonoswalt Billy Collins wrote a poem about this, "Marginalia". It's about meeting people through the notes they leave behind in books. It's terrific and it makes me I wish I encountered this more in my used books.
@pattonoswalt / @katiepdf, Louise Glück’s Meadowlands is fantastic, and has one of my two favorite lines: “I became a criminal when I fell in love. / Before that I was a waitress.” owlcation.com/humanities/Lou…
@pattonoswalt I stand with Patton. This is Twitter at it's best.
@pattonoswalt Some days the internet giveth. 😎
