I was asked in research where intuition of a fundamental idea may come from. Well, like solving a jigsaw puzzle, after you have seen enough pieces, you intuition starts to see the big picture... the key is, without the hard work with the early pieces, intuition will never come.

Frustrating interaction with @coinbase support. They want me to confirm personal data for regulatory purposes. Yet they refuse to update an incorrect field (citizenship), before I submit the confirmation. Their workaround - delete account and create new one! Ridiculous/shocking!

Temporary failures are the hardest part when you are optimizing for consistency. You don't necessarily know whether you should wait and retry, or abort because a resource won't be available for a long time. Distributed systems would be easier if you could see the future.

Ramanujan passed away 100 years ago today. With little means or math instruction, he discovered results which Hardy said "must be true, because if they were not true no one would have the imagination to invent them." I wrote a poem about how math brought these two together. Enjoy
