@brmorris It is hard to feel the need to refute someone who says there were no women pastors. It is not a serious argument. On the other hand the book "Tell Her Story" by Nijay Gupta is worth a read for anyone who wants to engage this topic.

@LivingGodsTruth And that doesn’t mean there is no place for addressing sin with kindness. But I see so much inconsistency in how speaking truth applied is applied to selective issues. And with evangelism is inverted where actions not belief have become the focus and talking point.

@LivingGodsTruth I can’t belive all the bad takes on this. He said “we are seen” he doesn’t say it’s his personal critique. And in response… so many defensive double downs that “shouting” repentance is loving. But it’s Gods kindness and patience that leads to repentance.

@kevinmyoung Richard Beck’s book Unclean is such a worthwhile read on this topic. He examines the psychology of disgust and how it takes over our ability to see another as beloved by God.

@DaveFalk81 @jashthewordy @JoshuaWehrmeier @amanda_kongvold @kevinmyoung As @faithimprovised states, a better translation without changing the form of the original words would be “truth-ing in love”. Like, we live in a way that is true and do it in love. (The verb speaking is added in translation)

@Faieby @AlsoACarpenter I wish it were so. But our Christian values are way too subjective and too attached to polarized narratives. Is owning guns a God given right, or anti-biblical? Is it more a Christian value to not be racist or to be anti-woke; to promote full religious liberty, or Theonomy?

@michaelahale @profsamperry Iran enforcing their interpretation of "God's law" is chilling.

@julioorodgz @ZachWLambert Can one have strong convictions and not be dogmatic about them? I think that might be a bit more what he is getting at it. I have often heard these these terms used in that way to end conversation. Have you heard them used that way?

@basedpublic @masonmennenga Yes it is. And that might be better! @grcastleberry exegesis is based in modernism where the objective was to remove God. Whereas postmodernism is in many ways a push back to the pre-modernism that is more similar to the biblical writers. It’s not the boogiman it’s made out to be

@DavidAFrench Maybe… you put it nicely. But it might also be just a move to ignite grievance in the heart of individualist Americans. It isn’t becoming of us to always see help to another as a threat to our security. There’s something dark about stoking that flame for political posturing.

@DavidAFrench Um I don’t think you are right about that! COVID Student loan payment pause ends this month right when debt forgiveness is announced. Unless I am missing something this seems like direct way to address what was an ongoing COVID relief that needed to end.

@ZachWLambert When my conservative economic theory redefines this as “not forgiveness” no sweat is needed. Its obvious I’ll pay 2k to those irresponsible free loaders. So those * verses/parables don’t apply. Its only the evil liberals who read the Bible though their political lenses and not me

@ElPichi931 @TylerHuckabee They have read the Bible... But it conflicts with conservative economic interpretation… so the Bible needs to be reinterpreted.

@PPWBPodcast Y’all need to give a listen to Tim Gombis @faithimprovised. Or better yet have him on the show. His study of Romans and specifically chapters 1/2 flips the whole thing on its head!
