Would we even need explicit SEL programs if we gave students more control over what and how they learn--wouldn't much of SEL develop organically? How do they learn to self-regulate, problem-solve, and set goals when we micro-direct their learning?
Questions we should be asking about homework: "Why do we give everyone the same task when we know learners differ?" "Why not empower students to design their own tasks? "Is it fair to penalize non-completion when home conditions vary?" Should kids work longer than an 8 hour day?"

Seeing many posts about how teachers shouldn't be grading work/learning during eLearning time. Many cite access and equity as primary reasons. My question is, why is it ok to assign and grade work done at home during normal school time? Access and equity remain an issue.

@tweinbrenner448 @realhomeworkldy 2) ...so, a focus on FA w/ intervals of SA for verification strikes the right balance. "Delaying grading until mastery" = ideal, but it is a choice (not required) aspect of SBG. SBG is about accuracy of "grades based on standards" & while mastery is desirable, not always achieved
