@LokiJulianus Lincoln as well as dudes like George Washington and Thomas Jefferson, who gave us our country in the first place, loved and supported tariffs. They all saw it as the perfect way for the US to function as an economy. It is anti-American to be anti-tariff.

My wife is Salvadoran and my son is (obviously) half Salvadoran. I’ve been to nearly every country in Central and South America and I was never scared, not even in the streets of Bogota at midnight, but if I’m being honest, I was scared when I went to El Salvador for the first time. It was September of 2020 and COVID was in full swing. People had lost jobs, you know how the world was, I figured thieves would be even more desperate than before. I won’t get lost in the weeds but I lived there for 2 years from December ‘20 - December ‘22 and witnessed first-hand how Nayib transformed the country. Every morning, I had coffee with suegra and talked about the country’s past and how people legitimately worried if their loved ones would return home that night when they left for work that morning. Imagine feeling that every single day of your life. Anyone that had a business, the gangs asked for “renta” (aka extortion) or they threatened your family. Imagine having to give away 25-50% of your monthly revenue or your family dies. Imagine never being able to leave your home after dark. Your world and the economy just shuts down after 7-8PM. It’s nothing short of a miracle what this man has done and it makes me sick to see self-righteous judges in America try to protect these very same people that caused this in the name of “human rights.” The irony is, if you give the gang members their rights, the everyday citizens lose theirs. It’s the first time in my life I’ve seen a government actively make the lives of their citizens better and it gives me tremendous hope. And it’s not just me. Every country my wife and I have visited in the region, without fail, they can’t stop talking about Bukele and how they wish he was their President. There’s still decades of work to be done and it’s still very much a third world country, but there’s so much we can learn. And maybe the best part of all, El Salvador literally translates to “The Savior.” God, the Universe, whatever you believe in, couldn’t have written it any better than that.

In North Minnesota there's a lake inside of a freshwater island, so a lake within a lake. It's called Lake Windigo because all the local tribes believed that's where the Windigo lived. I used to visit with my family all the time and you can catch panfish and a few pike if you canoe further out from the entrance, was always a neat little adventure
