If you are willing to cut welfare, including incapacity benefit and withdraw Personal Independence Payments (PIP) support to disabled people suffering, you cannot be trusted to deliver assisted dying legislation.
It feels a dark period to publish my book, Who Wants Normal? But perhaps now is exactly the time. We’re at the point pundits are saying you aren’t disabled if you go to mainstream school or work. I can’t wait to elevate disabled voices in the weeks ahead. Let’s get fucking loud.
all my life I have been pro-bodily autonomy and believed in the right to dignity in death, and a death of one’s choosing. I simply do not trust the one party state we live in to give itself this power and go no further.

In my documentary about assisted suicide, palliative care expert @kesleeman asks us to consider: "There's a lot of talk about safeguards & that they will make the law 100% safe. But they won't. They can't. So the question we should be asking is 'how safe is safe enough for us?"

Coercion can be generated by withdrawing support to live a good life. This is #ConstructedCoercion: political choice to generate conditions that render lives intolerable, removing all possibilities of choice to live well, all dignity in life, & offer it only in choice to end it.
In the words of @DisRightsUK: 'Assistance to die should not be easier to access than assistance to live.' But when you introduce assisted dying into an unequal society, that’s exactly what you get.
Some think disabled people are overreacting to the assisted dying bill because it’s 'just for late-stage illness.' But history shows these laws expand. So ask yourself: Would you oppose it if it DID include disabled people? Your answer might explain their fear
