Residents have been reaching out to ask about events held at Pier 4 Park and why they're permitted to exceed the noise bylaw and block paths with fencing. Here's an update based on my discussions with City staff on next steps and what to expect for the rest of 2023. #HamOnt
Allowing fencing over the paths, which restricts residents from being able to access parts of the waterfront, appears to have been an oversight. There are 4 more events scheduled at Pier 4 Park for 2023. City staff have confirmed that none of them will impact the park paths.
With respect to the noise, City staff are going to reach out to the organizers of the remaining events and ensure they know the rules. That being said, because these events occur on the weekend, when bylaw officers are not available, no reactive enforcement is possible.
@Ward2Hamilton It is unacceptable for a city of our size, that we do not have bylaw available on Saturday nights and Sundays.
@ryanstrang @Ward2Hamilton you choose to live downtown, but you don't like the noise. lol
@ryanstrang @Ward2Hamilton I believe we should be able to pro rate our municipal taxes in accordance to when services are not provided.
