@WeilToGo I just dont think its a very good description. The idea of “reformed/reforming catholic” just seems a much more accurate description to me. What precisely am I meant to be protesting against as I worship and minister in a church that has been going for almost 500 years?

@WeilToGo @bppwhalon @RevDaniel Being committed to e.g. the existence of purgatory, transubstantiation, high Marian views, etc. does put one outside the early anglican tradition which was not just protestant but reformed. Nevertheless plenty of angicans do hold those views. Seems weird to call them protestant.

@WeilToGo Personally, I don’t like calling myself a Protestant. I’d rather be grouped categorically in the mind of my non-Christian friends with the RCC than the American Evangelicals who in Canada and the US are the best known ‘Protestants’ to your average non-Christian.

@CrankyFed That reminds me of my time on my high school academic team. I answered the Anglican Church, and we had to protest because the moderator said the answer on their paper was Church of England. Eventually I won the argument.

@MthrRoseHill I’m not sure I agree there - unless we suggest that all private lives should be none of the business of the church? (ie why should their privacy be absolute when we are barred from ministry with private lives they disagree with)

This from @SaveTheParish gets it horribly wrong. Criticise SDF funding by all means. But don’t pit parishes against reparations for slavery: from money that was accrued (at least in part) on the back of enslaved Black bodies.
