LOL, the hallmark 2005 paper that made mRNA therapies (incl. vaccines) possible wouldn't make it to the top 60 highest cited CVPR papers (1209 citations). In case you needed any more evidence that citations are a stupid measure of impact.

When I was a little kid in the 1940s, May 1 was May Basket Day, when you'd fill a basket with candies and hang it on a door handle of the home of a pretty girl, then run hoping she'd catch you and give you a kiss. Now she'd just give you Covid-19. Anyone else celebrated MBD?

A paper in @AnnalsofIM claimed "cotton masks seem to be ineffective in preventing" COVID-19 transmission. However, the paper made a serious data analysis mistake, which, when corrected, shows cotton masks blocked >95% of the viral load! I'll explain. 1/ annals.org/aim/fullarticl…

Honestly, the question is not, and has never been, "can machine learning replace radiologists/etc" (which won't happen in the foreseeable future). The question is, how can radiology/etc utilize ML to improve outcomes, decrease the cost of care, and broaden accessibility.
