A tragedy of many modern product teams is that they have been conditioned to feel smartest when debating metrics, reviewing charts, discussing complex analyses, and not feel smart or safe when broaching the topic of customer psychology, creative solutions, and cognitive biases.

I do not know of any product that failed because the team used a sub-optimal sprint process, issue tracking tool, or North Star metric. I know of plenty of products that failed because they did not understand their customers, picked the wrong problem, or could not differentiate.

If you want to greatly improve your product’s quality & shipping pace, create an environment in which engineers care deeply about customers & have the agency to influence product decisions. This will easily make >10X long-term impact than any new product process, tool, or tactics

Many product managers still undervalue designers (or haven't worked with great designers). You can tell by the prescription in their specs. Your job isn't telling design where things go. It's coming to an agreement on how things should work.

Over time, every company turns into a gigantic confirmation bias machine for its CEO, tragically counter to the CEO’s own wish for the machine. You cannot altogether avoid this, but success lies in how hard you fight to to delay the inevitable for as long as you possibly can.

Saying you want to "learn to code" to get into tech/start a startup is like saying "I want to learn how to lay bricks" when you're interested in becoming a real estate developer. You don't need to learn to code. You need to understand how it all fits together.
