My hot take: our generation has swung so extreme with “therapy talk” and “boundaries” that few people stick to their word and show up for their friends. Everybody has long days at work. Nobody wants to sit in traffic. Wear a raincoat. Take a Tylenol or Pepto. Just show up.

A 90 y/o couples therapist shared thoughts on what destroys relationships: Partners ignoring each other's "bids for connection". The partner whose bids to connect are ignored is usually the one who files for divorce. Love is a misused word. What we often mean is... connection.
