The drop in property and deception offences was driven by decreases in steal from a retail store, steal from a motor vehicle and burglary offences, while the increase in drug offences was driven by an increase in drug possessions.
Close to 1 in 3 breach of COVID-19 restriction offences in Victoria occurred between midnight and 6am, while few occurred in a house or apartment

There were 36,420 females and 10,697 males in Victoria in 2018-19 who were in contact with Specialist Homelessness Services and disclosed domestic or family violence as a reason for needing assistance, data released by @CrimeStatsVic today shows.
Data from Specialist Homelessness services is included in the @CrimeStatsVic Family Violence Database for the first time today. These clients were assisted by a specialist homelessness service and disclosed domestic or family violence as a reason for needing assistance in 2018-19
Stay tuned for our annual Family Violence Database release tomorrow. Data includes family violence related information from Victoria Police, Legal Aid, Magistrates’ and Children’s Courts and Ambulance Victoria, among others.
