This is a great example of why it's so important that the no re-let period should be 12 months and not 6
Landlords should not be able to upend a tenant's whole life if they're not even serious about selling

This is a major concern - really not clear if the govt has even grasped the issue here
This is why proper parliamentary scrutiny is so important. Rushing the bill through like this has left a lot of unanswered questions

It’s very welcome that the government will remove the PIP cuts from the UC & PIP Bill.
But this bill will still significantly cut support for seriously ill and disabled people on universal credit.
The government must now scrap the whole bill and go back to the drawing board.
Think it's clearer than ever that the existence of the Timms review is a tacit admission that the proper policy thinking on PIP reform simply wasn't done when devising 4 point rule
Need to see detail - exempting existing claimants wld be welcome but don't think this solves fundamental problem that these are arbitrary & rushed cuts that were thrown together to meet a savings target

It's important for anyone considering this 'olive branch' to be clear that it's made from three policies which the Government already announced three months ago. (1/5)

Be very wary of any claim that the govt introducing transitional protection for PIP claimants who lose out from cuts marks a concession. This was mentioned in the green paper and would doubtless have been introduced anyway

NEW: Internal DWP figures show 700,000 families *already* in poverty are forecast to be hit by planned disability benefit cuts
That's on top of the 250k+ who are predicted to be newly pushed into poverty by the changes
By me, for the Guardian: theguardian.com/society/2025/m…
Thousands of people with cancer, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases, and more than 200,000 people with arthritis are among the 1.3 million whose disability benefits are at risk from planned cuts, according to FOI data
By me, for @BigIssuebigissue.com/news/social-ju…
"Pursuing policies that deepen poverty will only perpetuate the ‘managed decline’ that the government has railed against."
