I agree the younger grades must turn off their phones in school, but still have them in case of emergency, however the older kids and college age should make their own choices, you can’t give these teachers and professors free reign to say whatever they want

Professors and teachers can ask students to put their phones away but cannot demand it, don’t forget we pay for our education, it’s not free, as the payer you do what I say. Time to remind them of that I did
