I love the woman that I’m becoming. it gives me chills. she knows her worth. she’s got boundaries. she’s motivated and ready to make it all happen for herself 🦋
I've interviewed 10 or 12 people this week for both dev and non-dev positions, and with one possible exception EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM was a woman, PoC, veteran, and/or LGBTQ+. Truly wonderful candidates too. If your pipeline sucks, the problem is not them -- it really is you.
i'm so sick of people telling me and other women that we don't belong in this field, and trying to hold us to comparatively higher standards. we're not going anywhere, so stop wasting your time. if it bothers you so much, then YOU can be the one to find a new industry.
Hiring managers and job seekers, almost every piece of follow up info on that "short stints considered harmful," thread is wrong. From the ageism to the bias against career switchers. But I want to talk about the bad suggestion that better HMs let you "explain" short stints.
Respect women at work.
Respect women at home.
Respect women at school.

Respect women online.
Respect women EVERYWHERE.
These are just some of the abusive messages I’ve recieved on social media.
It has spiked this week, but it’s been going on for a long time.
But I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - I will not be silenced and I’ll never stop speaking out.
I don't wanna be arrogant but - I've paid my dues. Even if there's an argument that people starting out need to do a few free things to build a name for themselves - I have a name for myself. I have a Sunday Times bestselling book, and two more on the way (watch me).
"The pandemic has exposed and exacerbated gender disparities in academia...women often take on an inequitable number of non-research tasks both at home and at work."

Men tend to interrupt women far more often than the other way around, and displays of confidence and directness decrease women’s influence but increase men’s. What else could be affecting how women are perceived in your workplace? s.hbr.org/3a9wAt4
Just read the sex discrimination tribunal judgement against @splunk. Hopefully it will be reviewed by other companies and they will be more conscious of decisions impacting women. #equalpay#paygapgov.uk/employment-tri…
I once had an SVP who required at least one woman be on every hiring panel. I thought this was to ensure women candidates got a fair shot and felt welcome. Soon I realized this was also to ensure only candidates able to work in a gender diverse workplace were hired.
