NEW from @ryanodonnellpa:
Why did Democrats succeed in 2022 and not 2024?
One key is news engagement.
Those who pay less attention to political news voted for Trump at significantly higher rates.
Our new @CUP_Elements book, Storefront Campaigning, is out *today* and FREE to download until 12/12!

Using original data on field office locations, @swhyard_ and I show where offices are placed - and why they matter in presidential campaigns. (1/x)
The ground game is not fundamentally about persuasion. It is not an explanation for victory or defeat, certainly not compared to the economy or public opinion, and only matters in the narrowest of races.
It’s good for people to talk to each other, and field makes that happen.

A pretty simple model is that unpopular incumbent parties lose. Biden's 38% approval rating in June corresponds to a Democratic popular vote of about 48%.
