I find it EXTREMELY interesting to note that while everyone is targeting doctors working harder as a solution to a crisis, doctors are the only ones pointing out the limits of our scope of influence without our multidisciplinary colleagues, but yeah ARROGANT ELITIST MEDICS etc.

Fairly stark graph showing mental toll of working long hours. It's very hard to be happy and healthy if you spend 80 hours working in a week. @HSELive with the majority of trainees working above EWTD hours a solution will need to come to address our recruitment & retention crisis

Today is the 4th time in 3.5 months that the same person from HR rings my mobile to ask about my “suspiciously” long hours. As it turns out, if you only staff 2 interns for 60 acute patients, those 2 interns end up working (surprise surprise) 80-90 hours a week.
