now with logs, there are very high chances that different log line with have same timestamp and generally timestamp become the PK. Due to this logs get lost. So its better to use replicatedMergeTree not replicatedReplacingMergeTree #dataengineering
replicatedReplacingMergeTree: it removed duplicate row with same PrimaryKey during background merges.
Clickhouse for logs: ReplicatedMergeTree vs ReplicatedReplacingMergeTree When using replicatedMergeTree data is duplicated for HA so sometime people gets tempted to use replicatedReplacingMergeTree but that would be a major problem especially with logs. Why? #ClickHouse
Solution: setting ratio_of_defaults_for_sparse_serialization=1, this will not use sparse format. Though now data is not compressed it will somewhat increase the cost but that tradeoff is quite fine because s3 request cost incurred is significantly higher.
Due to which clickhouse keep retrying and issue GET and PUT s3 request. And this increases the cost very high because it keep on retrying.
Using clickhouse of logs. We were incurring lot of charges due to s3 request. Dig deeper and found out issue was sparse index. So apparently when we have containing of defaults value like boolean, clickhouse automatically switches the column to sparse format. #clickhouse
@GergelyOrosz With ai tools available, I think its very high time for having good engineering discipline and understanding concepts better, else we are just applying things mindlessly without understanding and in loop to fix things.
@ShubhAgrawal26 FlexiSpot Standing desk single motor Sparnod walking pad I use both and both are very good and worth the price
@negi_himanshi_ Sure will do next time
@iamankitpande Who is giving 12% fixed every year?
@Akasheth_ Don’t agree with this. Codex is forgetting context many time. While claude manages context better
@levelsio What worked is restarting the gateway for me.
@trikcode Coding must be going away. But coding is 20% of software engineering, 80% is system design. We are living in era where actually now we can spend more time thinking than actually writing the code.
@siddharthwv Yeah that is very correct. Building is easy but finding distributions is hard
@YashHustle_22 Opus 4.7. Tried codex but its is not a good as claude.
@TTrimoreau Finding distribution
@NaivaidyaY66600 Building PGVitals, a monitoring tool built specifically for small teams using PostgreSQL pgvitals.kafal.studio
@PM0207664335764 @negi_himanshi_ What’s the reasoning behind this? Her outfit is her choice, and it’s not an excuse for anyone to behave inappropriately.
