I'm on record as saying that Detroit isn't very good, and I'm glad we got by with 5 entries on them during week 1. I think they'll struggle to get to 8 wins, and the few weeks where they're good options (Jets, Dolphins, Titans) will likely have 25%+ of the field on them (no bueno) and/or there are other equally good options.

It absolutely does matter -- the only thing that matters is titles. I would rather win 1 title and then go 0-17 for the next 25 years than go 13-4 every year and lose in the playoffs. Notice how I never brought up hockey (until you did) or basketball or even baseball, despite the fact that I hate the Cubs? Possibly because the Bulls won 6 titles compared to the Bucks (1) and the Cubs have won a WS, whereas the Brewers never have. I'm not saying that the current status of teams doesn't matter (of course it does), but when you haven't won squat and are trying to trash talk teams that have, you should probably wait until you've done something before doing so. Especially since in this example, Love has won as many playoff games and gone as far in the playoffs as your QB has.

I know there's a lot of chatter in #CircaSurvivor and other Survivor pools that anyone that took the Lions got lucky or that they're glad that they didn't take the Lions in week 1. We don't have the Lions high on our board this season, and we think that they're going to struggle to get to 8 or 9 wins (like last season). And there are a lot of teams like this in the NFL. The reality is that when you have to pick 20 teams (or more for other contests), you're going to have to take some chances with mediocre teams and hope they get by. The Lions were at home against an inferior opponent on opening day with few other contestants likely to take them, and so our model had this as one of the top spots to take them. And they were up 21-0 halfway through the 3rd quarter! LOL😅 It's not like they were the ones getting blown out and stormed back for a "lucky" win. Kudos to the Saints for coming back, but it required a monster comeback by them to even make the game close. The second reality is that if you want to win these contests, you have to take an alternate path compared to everyone else, otherwise if you win, you're going to be splitting the pot 1,000 different ways, and that sucks. Having 50% of our entries on a team that was only picked by 7.1% of the field puts us on that alternate path. And even more so with our 1 Bengals entry. So yes, going heavy on the Lions was the right play for week 1 in our book, and we have no regrets, despite everyone else seemingly "happy" that they didn't take them. And now I'm nervous about having to take them at some point in our other 3 entries. 😉

@LastMenPod @DbScooper6 @audavidb It was not 59 yards -- it was 62 yards. There's a big difference between 62 yards and 59 yards. His career long was 60 yards. Yes, "zero" chance was a bit of an exaggeration, but "close to zero" given the circumstances wasn't. And in fact, the FG wasn't even close.

@LiamGreeson @LastMenPod @whale_capper But unless you're not going to take the Lions at all, you're going to have to deal with that at somepoint. And those of us that took them now don't have to worry about them the rest of the season. It's not just about only taking "good" teams or anyone playing the Browns/Dolphins.
