Updated data from NYC’s Omicron surge. The graphs speak for themselves. Absolutely stunning.

(10/14) Ontario has fewer acute hospital beds per capita than any other province, or most countries tracked by the OECD. Even before COVID-19, many hospitals regularly operated above 100% occupancy during flu season. That’s where we found ourselves as we entered the pandemic.

*triage, it means triage. Not passive-canceling-surgeries-triage. It’s triage of patients that need acute care. There are already patients on the wards that are sick enough to warrant admission to ICU. But there’s no place in ICU for them.

We are at level 4 surge capacity. There is no level 5. Instead of explaining very plainly to the population what that means*, politicians and certain media outlets are selling us “with covid” snake oil.

Asked why Ontario won't make #COVID19 vaccines mandatory for school attendance (along with other shots), chief medical officer Moore says because it's a new vaccine. "We want more experience with it before we mandate it." #onpoli

Everyone is exhausted and emotionally done with Covid. But this is the ripple effect of the high case counts we’d all love to ignore: now thousands of people *without* Covid, who are facing cancer or other life-threatening conditions, will soon learn their surgeries are delayed.

Cynthia Mulligan @CityCynthia

Oof, Ontario Health CEO confirms 8-10 thousand non-emergent surgeries will be postponed per week under new order. Non emergent includes heart, cancer surgeries. That will be devastating for many #onpoli
