It’s pretty clear that if the US was ever going to be able to counter a Chinese invasion of Taiwan, Iran would become an issue because of their control of the Strait of Hormuz, their nuclear ambitions, etc. So if I were the CCP, I’d start laying the groundwork ahead of time to demoralize the US when the inevitable showdown with Iran came. How would you do that? Foster antisemitism. Place “influencers” in position to start spouting out how the US government is controlled by Israel. That a war with Iran is only is Israel’s interest. Push that message hard on TikTok and other social media platforms. Glad we’re not seeing anything like that, though.

I completely support these strikes. FINALLY something is being done about it (and that "it" is not Iran). This is going to be long.. After Venezuela, it was not a matter of "if" but "when." Trump would have done it already in January, but US fleet just wasn't there. This is why the Iranian regime cracked down so hard on protesters (10–32k dead) — so that there are no protests when the US finally has the necessary forces in the area. Main reasons for the war: - Weakening China and Russia (occupied by war in Ukraine). Both Venezuela and Iran were/are major Chinese/Russian allies. There were many reports that last year's strikes didn't do as much damage as Trump claimed, and this war is further confirmation of that. While Israel has been scaring the world with Iranian nukes for the last 20 years — which makes the whole claim much less credible (the Israeli government are liars) — it is not out of the realm of possibilities. But the number of new missiles argument holds up much more. Since Iran was selling 90% of its oil at a discount to China, after regime change it can be sold on the open market instead of helping the US's greatest rival. Or maybe even the US secures some sweet deal with the new government, if a new one emerges. An attack on Taiwan could have turned into a complete economic disaster (the world is completely addicted to Taiwanese chips) and had the probability to turn into a global conflict, even with NATO and Russia involved. If Russia was losing badly, if they were against the wall, they could have even used nukes. No thanks. I was looking at this trajectory for a few years (as a person living in a country bordering Russia) — I even prepared by buying my own power generators, batteries, and a few other things. Finally, somebody is doing something to get off that path. Thank you President Trump! And both Republicans and Democrats signaled they would have defended Taiwan (Biden said it like 4 times), while Xi was getting rid of anyone questioning his plan to take over the Taiwan, so no conflict over Taiwan scenario is more unlikely than likely. The only way to avoid this risk of catastrophe is to weaken China as much as possible while claiming it is for other reasons. Avoid the war instead of fighting it. I know you care about the midterms (I do too), but Republicans are fucked no matter what without the SAVE Act. Democrats don't care about the rules, law, or will of the people — the only thing they care about is winning, so they will lie, cheat, and steal if not stopped. Before 2028 we may have a Supreme Court decision about the VRA giving Republicans extra ~20 House seats, but it won't happen before the midterms. So the midterms are most likely toast, because I don't believe weak Republicans will end the filibuster. Unless the Iranian war turns into a great success, while not lasting relatively long. (but markets don't believe this) I know this is a high price to pay, but it's worth it if it helps us avoid WW3 over stupid Taiwan. And I do care much more about US elections than my own country's elections, but I have children, my country borders Russia, and my country was within the range of Iranian missiles if they ever developed a nuke, so I have a slightly different perspective than the Americans far, far away. And I am very grateful (unlike most stupid Europeans) for the sacrifices that Trump and America make to help us and the sacrifices needed to execute this. Like most Iranian people around the world, I celebrate Iranian regime change attempts. Just like I am grateful the west helped topple the communist regime in my country when we were under the authoritarian boot before 1989. I know war is dirty and evil, but it looks like you can't have your cake (regime change) and eat it too (have no war) in this case, unfortunately. I hope for more moves to weaken China even more.
