The "Charlie Kirk was shot with a .30-06" rumor: A little over a year ago, some officers were looking for an active, armed shooter, in Utah, when they stumbled upon a towel in a wooded area. (Apparently, these officers didn't have their body-cams on as they were looking for the active shooter, or we'd have seen footage of them coming upon the rifle, wrapped in a towel, in situ. Alas, we haven't seen that footage..) Then, @SCrowder breaks the news that a .30-06 rifle was found. Before Newsday. Before the Wall Street Journal. And, Low and Behold, the "Charlie Kirk was shot with a .30-06" rumor began.. The rifle that was found in the woods did not fire the bullet that killed Charlie Kirk, and there is no concrete, definitive ballistic evidence that it did. In fact, there is no evidence THAT rifle was ever on the Losee Center rooftop. Ever. In fact, there is no ballistic evidence that a shot was fired from the Losee Center rooftop, with ANY weapon. But, Charlie Kirk was definitely shot from somewhere in that vicinity, or along that trajectory.. Thank @SCrowder for the Wild Goose chase..

Two images are attached. One is the bullet recovered from Charlie Kirk's autopsy. The other image is of a rifle that ostensibly belongs to the Robinson's, that was found nearby UVU, in a wooded area. Alas, ATF analysis of the deformed .30-caliber jacket fragment and lead pieces recovered at Charlie's autopsy was inconclusive. Impact damage left insufficient individual toolmarks for positive identification of the specific Mauser. The recovered bullet and fragments did not establish a forensic link, beyond a shadow of a doubt, with the recovered Mauser rifle. So, although the recovered rifle may in fact belong to the Robinson's, and it may have Tyler Robinson's DNA on it, there is no forensic or ballistic connection between that recovered Mauser rifle, and the bullet recovered from Charlie Kirk's autopsy. That bullet that was recovered at autopsy, could be a 7.62 x51mm or .300 Blackout round, as both are consistent with the .30 caliber family. @Grok - fact check this, section by section, please.
