This happened to a friend of mine - mugged and threatened for his passcode, and then this service was used to lock him out of his entire @Apple account. His laptop was remote-disconnected from Apple services, ApplePay cards maxed out, iCloud passwords compromised, everything.

About 10 years ago I closed my @etrade account. They messed up the math and left it with $0.01 after closing. A decade later they're still sending monthly statements for this penny, but I can't tell them to just keep it because "only active accounts can call customer service." 🤦🏻‍♂️

Been talking a lot recently about chat gpt and it’s its penchant for hallucinations that interests people most of all. I think it’s because it’s a crack in the story of “infallible AI” that we’re so often told. If only someone had told this lawyer… theverge.com/2023/5/27/2373…
