Emeritus Justices would focus on administrative tasks (incl. cert petition review), circuit riding, etc. Can also fill in when Ct is short-staffed.

“Lifetime duty roster” isn’t truly term limits. Justices still get life tenure *on the federal judiciary* and get to keep the title “Justice.” BUT each Justice would be in active svc for 18 years, and in “relaxed svc” afterward.

It seems to me that one way to resolve the filibuster standoff would be to restore the old filibuster rules: Force those filibustering to actually filibuster. Voting against cloture is cheap and easy. Foregoing recesses, opportunities to campaign & fundraise, etc. are not.
