6 days ago“Trustees, I would like you to bring representatives of Trapeze (@trapezegroup) before you to ask them why they are leaving the disabled community behind,” Martin said to the @GCRTA board today.

The Land @LandofCLE
6 days ago“Agency staff has told CPT (@CLEforTransit) that the paratransit website is run by a third-party vendor named Trapeze (@trapezegroup) and that therefore RTA has no power to update that website. That’s bunkum,” CPT chair Chris Martin said at today’s @GCRTA board meeting.

6 days ago.@GCRTA had previously confused a Jan. 31 public comment by paratransit rider & @CLEforTransit vice chair Shalida Dobbins as referring to RTA's main website, which is in beta testing. Dobbins' comment was about the paratransit ride scheduling site, she confirmed to The Land.

The Land @LandofCLE
6 days agoWhile @GCRTA’s main website is going through the beta testing phase of an update, updates to the paratransit ride scheduling site are on hold until 2024. Paratransit riders say the scheduling site is inaccessible for people with disabilities. 🧵

6 days ago@briangerard13 @CLEforTransit @GCRTA NYC has millions of citizens yet their transit system have electronic signs throughout their system. And it's a vital part of the daily commute. If it works great and their commuters appreciate having it, why can't that be the case here?

Clevelanders for Public Transit @CLEforTransit
6 days ago@briangerard13 @swandad @GCRTA A public transit system should have signs to make sure everything is accessible for everyone. Things happen with phones, having a sign is not a huge ask 🤷🏽♀️

Clevelanders for Public Transit @CLEforTransit
6 days ago@briangerard13 @swandad @GCRTA No not really. Technology is a privilege a lot of people don’t have access to. Also, phones run out of battery life. Having something like an electric sign is important.

Gregory Mansfield @GHMansfield
6 days agoAbleism is about more than disability. It is devaluing and ascribing inferiority to those who are different.

Gregory Mansfield @GHMansfield
6 days agoThe notion that disabled people should supply their own access & accommodation is absurd. Do we expect a wheelchair user to carry a ramp? Do we expect deaf people to bring their own interpreters? Stop blaming disabled people. Inaccessibility and ableism are the problem.
