@LauraCollinsRP "Yeah, that is one way to put it," Carolyn laughed bitterly. "What else could've—" She froze, hand wandering to her belly. "Oh f—my God. Is the baby alright? Julia? Willie, is he safe?" She didn't know who she was addressing, her aunt or the nurse, but she had to know.

@LauraCollinsRP But then she could hear someone bustling about beside her, prodding at her, taking her wrist one moment and dropping it the next, and she looked despite the damn overhead lights. A nurse was checking a machine, and... "Aunt Laura?"[2/2]

@LauraCollinsRP Something creaked, high-pitched and sharp, jolting Carolyn into consciousness. She slammed her eyes shut again with a groan, head pounding—what did she drink yesterday? Then she remembered. Her heart stuttered, blood turning to ice. She could've screamed.[1/2]

@LordMachen @JuliaHoffmanMD She screeched into the face that had followed her into the waking world, flailing in instinct. Each motion was as though through molasses, though she managed to dislodge the unwelcome hand as she twisted: he was unmoved, so Carolyn kept screaming, clawing. "GET AWAY!" [7/7]

@JuliaHoffmanMD @LordMachen Odd though it was, such an atmosphere didn't seem the least bit unlikely to Carolyn, any more than how a sunset can turn the world purple if the weather is right. And in the way of one acknowledging the weather, she didn't give the matter a second thought. [6/6]

@JuliaHoffmanMD @LordMachen Above loomed a strange sort of sky; it swam with patches of every color, like a kaleidoscope, shimmering and delicate like crystal. Medallion weather. "Strange weather we're having," she said to herself.[5/6]

@JuliaHoffmanMD @LordMachen @GovernessVicki @LizCMcGuire @BrunoAHess @JasonMc00245084 @LauraCollinsRP Uncle Roger would have loved the irony. Suddenly, she felt like laughing, because this was 𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘧𝘦𝘤𝘵, just perfect, but all that came out was a choked wheeze. And tears. She interlaced her fingers with Willie's, and wept at last. (10/10)
