College Recruiting @CollegeRecApp

@CoachHarrisNCSA Being willing to adjust your college list is important. But I’d also encourage athletes to look beyond whether a program wants them. Understanding their potential role, development opportunities, academics, and cost matters just as much before committing.

Not every athlete develops on the same timeline. Some get recruited early. Others make big improvements later. Don’t let someone else’s recruiting attention determine how you view your own progress. Keep developing, stay open to opportunities, and control what you can.

@CoulterRecruits Good film, academics, and consistent outreach can help athletes get noticed. But it’s also important to target programs where their ability matches the level of competition and where there’s a realistic need at their position. Getting in front of the right coaches matters.

@CoachBeede One important detail for families: the 34-player baseball limit applies to D1 schools participating in the House settlement, with exceptions for certain athletes. Recruits should ask each program how many spots they’re filling at their position and what aid is actually available

Recruiting email tip: make your subject line specific. “2027 | Baseball RHP | Virginia | Video” tells a coach more than “Interested in your program.” Keep your message short: who you are, why that school interests you, and a working film link.

@coach_jrob31 Definitely worth considering opportunities at every level. I’d encourage families to look closely at the actual financial aid package, including what is guaranteed, what’s renewable, and what they’ll still owe. The division alone doesn’t tell you how affordable a school will be.

Before sending your highlight video to college coaches, test the link. Can someone open it without logging in or requesting access? Make sure your graduation year, position, and contact information are easy to find. Don’t let a broken link get in the way of an opportunity.

@coachdrew94 Roster changes can create opportunities, but the freshman’s situation stands out too. If an athlete is considering transferring after just one semester because the school and baseball program aren’t the right fit, that shows how important it is to evaluate before committing.

@RichContartesi Being prepared for this question matters, but honesty does too. Athletes shouldn’t feel pressured to exaggerate interest from other programs. Answer honestly, then ask about that coach’s recruiting timeline and what opportunities may be available.

@TrentonLuera14 Recruiting timelines can change, and silence doesn’t always mean a coach has ruled you out. But don’t wait on one program. Keep researching schools, reaching out, and sharing meaningful updates. Be ready when an opportunity comes, but keep creating other opportunities.

@coachwwest This is an important question for recruits to consider. Coaching staffs change, roster situations change, and injuries happen. Athletes should feel confident they’re choosing a school where they’d still want to be a student, regardless of what happens with their sport.

A $50K scholarship doesn’t always beat a $30K scholarship. College A: $70K total cost − $50K aid = $20K/year College B: $45K total cost − $30K aid = $15K/year The biggest offer isn’t always the best financial deal. Compare what you’ll actually pay.

@coachwwest This is why athletes need to know the difference between their school GPA and NCAA core-course GPA early. A strong overall GPA can still hide an eligibility issue if approved courses, core GPA or timing requirements aren’t met. Families should check this well before senior year.

@RichContartesi This is why athletes have to evaluate the school and program, not just the coach recruiting them. Staffs change. The academics, cost, location, roster structure and overall environment are what the athlete is actually committing to.

Being wanted matters — but it’s still only one part of fit. Athletes also need to know whether the roster, role, academics, cost, coaching staff and school actually fit them. The best opportunity is where the interest is mutual and the fit holds up on both sides.

Do the schools you want actually want you? A lot of players spend all their energy chasing dream schools without asking the harder question: Who is actually recruiting me? Sometimes the best opportunity isn’t the biggest logo. It’s the program that truly wants you.

@GrahamD14 Clarity beats trying to decode every signal. If you’ve been communicating for months, asking directly where you stand can save a lot of time and help you decide where your energy should go next.

@RichContartesi Asking for feedback is a good move, even if the coach can’t meet right after the game. The bigger point is being proactive instead of treating “we’ll be there” as the end of the conversation.

The best questions usually come from research you’ve already done. Know the roster, academics, coaching staff, program history and what matters to you before the call. Then you can ask questions that actually help you decide whether the school fits.

On a call with a coach, have three questions ready. Silence on your end reads as disinterest, not nerves.

@SportPsychTips That ownership matters in recruiting too. Athletes can’t control every coach’s interest or decision, but they can control how prepared they are, how they communicate, and how they respond when things don’t go their way.

This is why research has to come before outreach. A camp makes more sense when you understand the school, academics, coaching situation, roster context, and why the program fits you. That’s the kind of research College Recruiting is being built to make easier.

Recruits, You should begin planning where you want to go to Camp. Pay attention to potential coaching turnover at the schools you’re looking at. Study their style of play. Look at their academics. Find some of their athletes on Twitter and DM them. Show up knowledgeable!
