Today‘s Muppets of the Day are the Green Gazelles! These bunkaru-styled puppets were originally designed for the Muppet’s 1974 appearance on Herb Alpert and the TJB. Though their sketch was cut, the gazelles resurfaced dancing with Juliet Prowse on The Muppet Show.

Today’s Muppet of the Day is the Connie Stevens Muppet! At the end of her Muppet Show appearance, guest Connie Stevens recieved a Muppet replica of herself from Kermit. This planned “tradition” would ultimately be discontinued after this episode.

Today’s Muppet of the Day is the Thingy-Thing! This happy yellow creature pops up in the “Hugga Wugga” sketch, only singing “You Are My Sunshine”. It pits its wits against an alien bully, offering some words of wisdom - “Do not take my sunshine away.”

Today’s Muppets of the Day are the Triangles! Two triangles seek out big-name triangle fan Telly in episode 3012 of Sesame Street. They hope to stick by him forever, leaving Telly to explain how he needs his space and how it “takes a lot of shapes to make up the world”.

Today’s Muppet of the Day is Leon! Bulgy-eyed Leon appeared throughout The Jim Henson Hour, often trying to come up with a money-making scheme. His job at MuppeTelevision is not clear - in fact, a Muppet Magazine issue has Kermit claim he never actually hired Leon.

Today’s Muppet of the Day is Old Smoggy! Grover and his camper friends meet Old Smoggy in the 1993 Sesame Street video “Sing-Along Earth Songs”. Years of pollution has left the air around him very dirty - in fact, a nearby bird makes plans to head back to the city due to it.
