Does anyone know why China de facto isn’t combating smoking? I’m aware of the state tobacco monopoly and all that, but this is an extremely short-sighted policy, on the level of the one-child policy.

Why is the US so religious compared to the rest of the West? I speculate that Americans are genetically more predisposed to religiosity. Many of the first settlers were religious fanatics who were unable to find their place in Europe.
