You can make money when the stock market is down, from short selling! For example, (1) You borrow a share of Tesla, then sell it for $500. (2) The price drops, and you buy it back at $400. (3) You give the Tesla stock back, and keep the profit of $100

You can make money when the stock market is down, from short selling! This works by (1) Borrowing stock from your trading brokerage (2) You then sell the “borrowed” stock right away, hoping that the price will decline so you can buy the stock back at a lower price.

An ETF (exchange traded fund), is a basket of different stocks. It’s a collection of stocks & ETFs can invest in any industry or sector, diversifying you into multiple companies. ETFs are similar to mutual funds, but ETF shares can be traded throughout the day, just like stocks.
