Dear ‘influencers’.
Young teenagers are developing fear around food because of your messaging.
Insulin spikes will not make you fat or unhealthy if your diet is balanced and calorie appropriate.
Please stop pushing a narrative you don’t understand 🙏🏻
When you live in the real world using a ready meal is a perfectly valid nutritional strategy.
Provided you account for calories, make protein appropriate for your goal and add some vegetables.
It’s going be far better than planning home made but then dialling in a take away.

What an awesome weekend at WOW Fest 🤩
Amazing to speak to so many people and help them with simple and practical nutrition tips they can use every day.
And yes, nutrition coaches eat pizza too. If you can't eat the foods you love then it’s not the right approach for you!

Don’t let anyone convince you that removing a food from your diet is a magic fix.
Keto works by creating a calorie deficit.

Meet Evie, my amazing PT client who loves a Bulgarian split squat! 🏋️♀️💪

🏋️♀️ Exercise is essential for overall health, but it's not the key driver for fat loss. Here's why! 💪
🔍 Check out the second slide to see why deliberate exercise only contributes a small fraction to your metabolism.

You won’t lose strength in a calorie deficit.
Because strength is a skill.
So keep lifting heavy with good technique.
Eat enough protein you’ll lose fat not muscle anyway.
Even if you do lose muscle, it’ll be easier to get it back than it was to build it.
Nuts are often cited as ‘good’ sources of protein.
They’re actually not.
Only 15-20% of the calories in nuts come from protein.
It’s not that you shouldn’t eat nuts.
They’re really a source of fat and whilst fats are not bad either they add lots of calories.
When upgrading your nutrition ask yourself one question…
“Can I see myself doing something similar for the rest of my life?”
If your answer is “no”, that approach isn’t for you.
Long term adherence matters most which is where low carb, or 500cal per day often let you down.
Overrated:
Removing foods you enjoy from your diet because you ‘can’t be trusted’ with them.
Underrated:
Having those foods occasionally so you don’t snap and eat 10x the amount after one week of being ‘good’.
If you say no to something you enjoy automatically want it more.
Too much fuel (calories) and you’ll gain weight.
Too little fuel (calories) and your performance will suck (concentration, strength, speed, endurance, etc).
Get your calories right before you worry about the more complex stuff like macros, hormones or ice baths

@surreylive So simple and easy!!
You could even add some Greek or Icelandic style yogurt to bump up the protein content a little depending on your goal 🔥
Food is not the only cause of inflammation.
Stress, lack of sleep, burnout and sitting too much all contribute.
No single food is anti inflammatory.
A few turmeric shots or green tea won’t undo a lifetime of living off cookies and crisps!
Relax, move more, eat whole foods.
Your health and performance is not defined by a single food or individual meal.
The sum of your choices over months is what makes the impact.
Crisps, cake, chocolate etc. are all fine in moderation.
If 80% of your diet is wholesome and nourishing that’s good enough.
