@DaveShapi We need to separate legitimate AI anxiety (job losses, not wanting to participate whatsoever in promoting it) from control freaks straight from the struggle session playbook.
@LukeElin @DaveShapi I give them 6 months
@TimSweeneyEpic @SoftEngineer AI is a once in a lifetime opportunity to accelerate one’s creative process. In 30 years in software engineering I have not seen anything like this. It’s an absolute god sent for solo indie devs.
@SoftEngineer @OlleMattsson @TimSweeneyEpic It’s all you can do. Keep building things you love building. Keep using the tools that you are wanting to use without letting anyone telling you otherwise. AI is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to accelerate.
The visibility (turbidity) is the most obvious one, if it is too clear it looks way too much like a computer game (you notice the textures and models imperfections more). But the coolest thing about the way I approached the engine is that all these parameters are exposed via MCP. So you can have a Claude session connected to it and you can drop an underwater picture to it and asks to make the water similar.
Happy #screenshotsaturday ! My underwater engine has so many parameter dials that I can create very moody underwater looks! #indiedev #gamedev #underwater
@PlayGameGen Water turbidity is the most obvious dial, it controls the visibility.
It should be no problem for you to identify slop by looking at the Steam page, trailers and screenshots. And if you can’t detect the slop then, you still have a 2hrs window to get a refund. So it’s not really an issue. Unless it really is more that you equate *any* use of AI with slop. In which case it’s political.
Hi Awesome #indiedev #gamedev its #screenshotsaturday So join in the fun, Share pictures of your amazing games below all welcome #indiegame #madewithunreal #madewithunity #indieplatinumawards Have a great weekend! ✅Like & RT this tweet ✅Reply with your game ✅I'll RT 💯⤵️😍

Yes, but it's not a colour ramp: sunlight is absorbed colour by colour as it goes down, red first, so the water gets darker and bluer with depth. What's in the water changes the result: clear ocean fades to deep blue, murky coastal water to green. And a 'water thickness' dial sets how fast it darkens and how far you can see
@GeneratorRexy @TimSweeneyEpic @Filmbot I don’t like games that use prefab assets, it doesn’t mean I now want a “made with prefab assets” label. Really the whole thing actually comes from a certain mindset that loves to control and ostracise.
@mosesbabychrist Always great to see others’ engines that also use Rust.
@ForkedPush Looks great keep at it!
@LethalChicken_ @daft3ndir3kt @MckKirk They just don’t understand the tech
@LethalChicken_ @daft3ndir3kt @MckKirk The irony is that everything can now be done in a terminal session.
@daft3ndir3kt @MckKirk It’s a skill issue if people lose control of the creative process when they use AI yes. AI is an accelerator (for code at least) but ultimately you are in charge of a project/game vision and looks. The AI doesn’t decide what gets released. You do.
@JonasTyroller The line is to make a game that simply doesn’t “feel” like slop. Whether it being human slop or AI slop.
@daft3ndir3kt @MckKirk Skills issue.
