A plea to scientists! Please refrain from deleting your X account if you choose to leave this site! There have been important conversations & debates on here that are part of our collective digital memory (& predate Musk's purchase of Twitter). Please don't erase that history!

Are hereditary advantages unearned, hence unjust, hece a legitimate target of leveling by government? @damienmorris disagrees with @kph3k on this (while Harden, unlike most leftist egalitarians, faces squarely the scientific evidence for hereditary differences).

Are we entitled to our achievements? Or are they the product of undeserved genetic privilege – and thus worthy only of redistribution by the state? A must-read essay from @DamienMorris on the disturbing implications of a dangerous idea: quillette.com/2021/09/30/the…

Suppose differences between individuals that determine economic success or failure in life not only exist but can be inherited, what policies does justice require? This article examines how two authors draw extreme socialist conclusions from this supposition. Are they justified?

This is a fascinating, provocative essay that makes clear the importance of behavioural geneticists engaging deeply and fully with the history and philosophy of justice, equality and care/compassion (and the differences between them). Highly recommended.

My essay on the dangers of marrying behavioural genetics with the politics of the social justice movement has been published in Quillette. It discusses @kph3k’s new book ‘The Genetic Lottery' and Freddie deBoer’s similarly themed book 'The Cult of Smart'.

Very pleased to see @theCCCuk’s advice on the 6th UK carbon budget includes @Futureproof’s longstanding recommendation to reform the carbon accounting rules & set budgets in line with the cost-effective path to 2050 for UK domestic emissions (see p.417 theccc.org.uk/wp-content/upl…).
