OED dictionary definition below - to act reciprocally, with one influencing the other. What the children say may be an ‘action’ in response but it is not ‘interactive’ by any definition of the word. The children are simply repeating her sounds, not influencing what happens.
Barbara has her own definition of the word ‘interactive’ and we all have to accept it.

Effective in some instances, but not deeply interactive. Imagine a conversation with a friend where your responses are scripted. I'd it interactive?
I think it's worth being clear that the classroom approaches promoted under the name of DI, di or 'explicit teaching' in recent years have been advocated with the explicit intention of rejecting interactivity, dialogue, discovery, investigation, group work etc not alongside. 5/
Carol Atherton's recent book, 'Reading Lessons', explores what reading & studying books has to offer if taught in ways that *do* elicit students responses in genuinely interactive ways, with teacher & students engaged in dialogue & teachers both offering & receiving ideas. 4/
'Explicit' offers of information, knowledge & thinking from the teacher is, of course, part & parcel of good teaching but the interactive aspect (so different from this example) involves teasing out ideas & probing thinking in 'episodes' of whole class dialogue, or peer talk. 3/
In secondary English, pretty much everything that one would want to do, to elicit responses to texts & share thinking, reveal students' understandings (and perhaps misunderstandings) in students would need something much more genuinely 'interactive' than 'repeat after me.' 2/
This isn't an eg of what I'd call 'highly interactive.' It's 'repeat after me', with no individual thought, nothing revealing understanding, ideas, feelings. Nothing wrong with it for something that needs 'dinning in' as (perhaps?) here, but not an ad for interactive learning. 1/
There is a connection between meditation and neuroplasticity. Meditation can lead to changes in the brain's structure; it has the ability to form new neural connections. Every kid has a right to learn how to take care of the body & brain. Conservatives oppose anything like this.
Every reader knows all the sounds, but every child who knows all the sounds may not be a reader. It’s not as simple as the SOR people claim it is. Every child strives to read anything he/she is passionately interested in.
After 50 years of working w children, teachers, and research I can tell you that mastering the sound of every letter does not make a reader, and that an emphasis on phonics often is an impediment to many youngsters becoming fully literate. Is it good to know the sounds?Of course.
This is the most important part of teaching- at any level! #beingpresent with our students-all of them- and ourselves is essential to effective teaching, learning, assessment. Most of us need to #practicepresence rather than #coverage
