So many senior and experienced staff are leaving the NHS now. Some retiring early. Others deciding to work somewhere they are valued and have the resources to practice medicine properly. We’ve had enough. We have nothing else left to give 5/6

Just now the NHS does not allow this. All the power to improve this lays with govt and NHS Leaders. So far they have chosen not to!
So many senior and experienced staff are leaving the NHS now. Some retiring early. Others deciding to work somewhere they are valued and have the resources to practice medicine properly. We’ve had enough. We have nothing else left to give 5/6
My relationship with the NHS is two way. Happy to put in the extra hours and take on the increasing load of stress but I expect to be treated properly and I expect to have the resources to treat my patients properly. The govt & NHS Leadership have failed in both regards 4/6
So do I blame any doctor seeking work elsewhere? Absolutely not. Better to survive and help patients than to be broken by a system that makes treating patients harder and harder, in a country increasingly polarised. Staying in the NHS now can be very damaging for staff. 3/6
I have no inherent obligation to work in the NHS My obligation is to my patients, whoever they are and wherever they live. But I want to work in the NHS… Selfishly speaking, I appreciate not having to say no to treatments because a patient can’t afford it.. But… 🧵 1/6
After 14 yrs of Tory rule and a cowed and complicit NHS Leadership, patients are being denied treatment due to lack of resources. It is hard to witness, day in and day out. The very principal of the NHS - access for all - no longer exists! 2/6

@DrNeenaJha NHS England have essentially bribed GP practices by introducing the ARRS scheme. Hire anyone but a doctor and we will pay most of their salary....& so practices have stopped hiring GPs and even made them redundant in some cases. Solution = end the partnership/business model.
@DrNeenaJha Thousands of UK qualified doctors with decades of training and experience are sat at home without work. There is NO GP shortage. The RCGP and BMA remain largely silent on this. Yes indeed it is a huge national scandal.

@DrNeenaJha Patients don't want it. I have asked 4 times to speak to a GP. Everytime I have been given a PA. Every time they have had to get back to me because they aren't qualified to deal with my complex conditions. We don't want PAs.

Chatting to a friend about Covid. They said "I understand the risks & the long term problems that might result from infection but I just can't live that way." I think this is how lots see it; Seems just too hard to stand out by masking or to avoid risky situations. Oh well 🤦♂️

@1goodtern What's baffling is that people are refusing point blank to connect it to Covid, which is a known BSL3 pathogen. I often wonder if people would refuse to connect any ongoing/new symptoms to an infection of Bubonic Plague (if they survived the initial infection)? Truly bizarre.
