I’ve held off from posting this while everyone processes the massive loss of @SarahWeirOBE. Sarah was my wisest counsel and my biggest advocate. She gave me strength to keep fighting & in her memory I always will. I’m going to miss her so much. ❤️ RIP wonderful woman.

@hellohistoria My grandma had the play girl centerfold of Burt Reynolds’s on her fridge. My grandpa died long before I was born, I always this it was a photo of my grandfather, which oddly I never thought weird🤣🤣
They told their families the next day, and there was uproar. Despite this, they were married for 69 years, until my great-grandfather died in 2006. My great-grandmother died in 2013, aged 99.
This post is getting so much love ❤️ Here she is! Her mother would not let her marry my great-grandfather. So in 1937, they both 'ran away' to get married. They married in the morning, went for an aeroplane flight over Porthcawl, and went back to work in the afternoon.
I remember the last time I heard her speak. I was visiting her in the nursing home, and I gave her Maltesers. Her favourite chocolate. She looked at me and said "Ooo, Maltesers!" I never heard her speak again, and prior to that, I hadn't heard her speak in years.
By that time, she'd lost the ability to speak but it was lovely to know that she was still present. Even if she was thinking about half-naked men.
My great-grandmother had Alzheimer's and she used to go to a day centre where they would do crafts. One of the activities was scrapbooking. The one she made was full of photos of children. She was very maternal. But, on the last page, there was a photo of Daniel Craig topless.
