Prejudice effects everyone and can make people feel like no one sees them as a person. For black people and other marginalized groups, many prejudice views are often negative, which can be emotionally harmful and in some cases, can lead to physical harm. #AfricanHeritageMonth
Today for #AfricanHeritageMonth, we are highlighting microaggressions, which are common verbal and nonverbal slights that black people and other marginalized groups face on a consistent basis.
Laing House is closed today, Saturday and Monday, to commemorate #HeritageDay. This year's honoree is William Hall. Born in Horton, which is now the town of Wolfville, Hall is the first Black person, first Nova Scotian, and the third Canadian to receive the Victorian Cross.

Bruce Guthro was an incredibly talented singer-songwriter. Known for his Songwriters Circles, he was an incredibly thoughtful man who looked out for his community and young artists. His passing is a loss for us all, and my thoughts are with his wife, Kim, and his loved ones.
