Adequate access to food is economic justice. But too many people with low incomes are forced to stretch their SNAP benefits. In 2020, the SNAP benefit per person per meal was only $1.39, not enough to pay for a gallon of milk or a loaf of bread.
A recent media report includes new details about House Agriculture Committee Republicans' plans for USDA’s #ThriftyFoodPlan (TFP), the basis for #SNAP benefit levels. Bottom line: This proposal would cut benefits for every SNAP participant in future years & should be rejected.
