In 2016, Dr. Geetha Manjunath was heading AI research at Xerox's Bengaluru lab, a role that followed a PhD from IISc, a stint as Principal Scientist at HP Labs, and over two decades building enterprise AI systems. Then her cousin, in her early forties, was diagnosed with breast cancer at a stage too advanced to treat. "The mammogram had missed her cancer earlier," Geetha would later say. She quit her job soon after. Mammography, the global standard for breast cancer screening, has real limits. It uses ionising radiation, is often painful enough that women actively avoid it, and is known to be less reliable in younger women and in the dense breast tissue common across Indian women. In India, where breast cancer accounts for over a quarter of all cancer diagnoses and the five-year survival rate trails far behind the United States and Australia, late detection is not a statistic. It is the difference between a cure and a funeral. Geetha had spent years working with thermal imaging on unrelated projects. She wondered if temperature variation in breast tissue could reveal what mammograms missed, and built the science to test it. The result, Thermalytix, requires no radiation, no incisions, and no physical contact: a woman sits before a thermal sensor for a few minutes, and an AI model trained on clinical data analyses the image. Niramai Health Analytix, the company Geetha founded and now leads as CEO and CTO, has since screened over 300,000 women across more than 20 countries, built on 39 patents and validated in 55+ peer-reviewed clinical studies. Geetha herself has been named to Forbes India's Top 20 Self-Made Women and inducted as a Fellow of the Indian National Academy of Engineering. For India, where cost and discomfort keep millions of women away from regular screening, a radiation-free test that can be deployed in a primary clinic is not a convenience. It is a chance to catch what would otherwise be caught too late.

Dr. Manmohan Singh Deserves an Apology For over a decade, the coal allocation controversy was not just a policy debate. It became a moral indictment. Names were taken, motives were assigned, and guilt was assumed in the court of public opinion long before any court of law had spoken. Now, on March 27, 2026, that long arc of judgment has turned. In the Bander coal block case, a special court acquitted former MP Vijay Darda, his son Devendra Darda, former Coal Secretary H.C. Gupta, and others. But this was not a routine acquittal. The court was categorical. The Central Bureau of Investigation, it said, failed miserably. The case rested on conjectures, not evidence. There was not even an iota of proof of corruption, influence, or illegal gain. For H.C. Gupta, the court granted an honourable acquittal, noting the complete absence of any wrongdoing or even a meeting of minds. But this judgment does not exist in isolation. At the time of these allocations, Manmohan Singh himself was the Coal Minister. The administrative chain, the decisions, the scrutiny, all ultimately pointed upwards to his office. The allegations did not just question a process. They cast a shadow on his integrity. Today, when the very foundation of those allegations collapses in a court of law, that shadow cannot be selectively ignored. This is not the first time such a narrative has unravelled. The 2G spectrum case verdict had already exposed how one of the most aggressively amplified corruption stories failed to stand legal scrutiny. Yet, the damage had been done. A media ecosystem, self appointed moral guardians, and ambitious political voices built their credibility on these claims. They shaped public perception, influenced electoral moods, and reduced complex governance decisions into accusations of corruption. And now, when the courts have spoken, there is a silence that is just as telling as the noise once was. Dr. Manmohan Singh was not just criticised. He was diminished in the public imagination. His personal integrity, once considered unimpeachable, was repeatedly questioned in a narrative that is now steadily collapsing. If institutions can take years to deliver justice, society must at least have the courage to acknowledge when it got it wrong. Because restoring dignity begins with a simple act. An apology.

Last evening, @DexterityGlobal shared the story of two Dexters whose combined age isn’t even 33 and they’ve won 33 international honours for India. One of them is Shreya. Shreya’s family moved to Delhi from a small village in Bihar. I remember visiting the family in Delhi last year. Shreya, a government school student, entered the Dexterity system at age 13. She completed Dexterity’s most rigorous training and graduated from #DexSchool in 2022, as a lifelong Dexter. She was soon inducted as a #DexterityToCollege fellow through Dexterity’s National Scholar Development Program (NSDP). At a young age of 18, the proud Dexter has represented India in three countries, been in residence at Boston University for six weeks, won a Rs. 3,00,000 Catalyst grant in Germany as a Mercedes-Benz fellow, was the youngest ambassador for India at a UN platform, and has won several national and international competitions. Today, across the world, the #DexterityGeneration has arrived. At every global stage, there’s a child from a common Indian family, winning! #ThisIsDexterity 🧢🇮🇳
