The police detective who led the investigation into David Carrick said “It is unbelievable to think these offences could have been committed by a serving police officer.” And herein lies the problem. If you think it’s “unbelievable”, you OBVIOUSLY aren’t paying attention.

18 months after the murder of Sarah Everard, Carrick faced an allegation of rape. He was arrested but the Met did not view it as serious enough to suspend him from duty. Colleagues knew him as “Bastard Dave”. Colleagues nicknamed Wayne Couzens, “the rapist”. No one did anything.
