Also worth noting we have the Canada Elections Act which prescribes federal elections every four years, with our constitution requiring them no later than every 5 years. So there’s that as well.

In my years in public affairs, I often dealt with @cbcfifth & saw firsthand how quickly they put aside journalistic ethics to manufacture stories they hope will prove to the world their investigative bona fides. This hatchet job on a Cdn icon is disgraceful but not surprising.

A great loss for Canada. Hugh Segal was, among many other things, an ardent supporter of good communications as a critical policy tool. His view (and I paraphrase): if you can’t explain a policy simply and clearly to the average Cdn, it’s probably not very good policy. Dead on.
