An early yes and a real yes can sound identical. The difference shows up when you ask for the next step and see whether they take it.
@atShruti Knowing when to stop building might be the hardest of those, since building feels like progress. What signal do you think tells a founder it's time to stop?
@dotnetsme A co-founder with complementary skills also gives you someone to argue with before you ship. Does clarity on who owns which decisions matter as much as the skills themselves?
@volosatovde Asking for money early also tests the thing you can't fake: whether the problem hurts enough. What do you think is the gentlest way to make that first ask?
@SamVale29 Interviews tell you the problem is real, but only a preorder tells you someone will actually pay. I'd lean C, even though it's the hardest to get with nothing built.
@santoshstack Maintenance is where you find out if you understood what you built. Do you think it's mostly code quality, or having written down why each decision was made?
@wagslane Is that mostly because savings feel certain and growth feels speculative? Curious which small cost people overweight the most.
Customer conversations can quietly turn into pitches. If you're doing most of the talking, you're probably collecting politeness, not information.
ATTEMPT: Take the part of your idea you keep describing with "it would be cool if" and turn it into one question you can ask a real person by Friday.
What's something you're waiting on permission for that nobody actually needs to give you?
Quitting too early and holding on too long can feel the same from the inside. The difference is often whether you decided what would count as enough before you started.
Ten conversations that all say the same thing can feel like a pattern. Sometimes it's just ten people from the same corner. Worth asking who you haven't talked to yet.
@MaxParnian The ranking probably depends more on the task than on the model. I'd ask which ones people actually go back to after the first week.
@TTrimoreau The useful version of this question is which tasks you stopped doing and which you only moved. Some manual work was quietly doing the thinking.
@marclou Showing the dip next to the peak is rare and useful. Which of those years taught you the most about what the product actually was?
@sridharfyi A student graduating in 2027 leading a company says something about who ends up applying. Is the early stage mostly about the founder now, with the idea secondary?
@pe3sos The cost is invisible because nobody owns the total. Has anyone tried deleting a step and seeing what actually breaks?
@pe3sos Random IDs hide the count, but the ownership check is what actually protects the data. Easy to ship the first and forget the second.
@agazdecki Interesting milestone because it removes you as the bottleneck. Does it say the product sells itself, or that the distribution channel is doing the talking?
@launch_llama Maybe the question is which parts of building were ever the valuable ones. Deciding what's worth building and who it's for still seems to sit with the human.
