@maureenjohnson Hani and Ishu's guide to fake dating by Adiba Jaigirdar is very sweet. We Cant Keep Meeting Like This by Rachel Lynn Solomon has queer side characters (iirc an important lesbian best friend) and is very heartwarming also.

@PaddlepopLion85 @PolycatV @JeremyPoxon Read Jeremy's tweet again. 40% are disabled and dont qualify for DSP or NDIS, or cant afford to get diagnosed for it. Others are caring for those people Or too old to be considered for job positions. Those people cant work. Youre saying they dont deserve basics ever. 👎👎👎

Youre wrongly assuming people are on it short term.

When something is clearly designed to be reactionary and outrageous and hurtful, how about we ignore it. Cut of its oxygen. Starve it of attention. No discussion, no commentary, just note its existence and move on. Thats the most effective way to smother its influence imo.

@AutSciPerson My observation is that people can do whatever they want; also there are social consequences. It takes a particular bravery to break gender norms, bc most everyone will try harass you back into line. When enough people are brave, the norms change. But its extremely difficult.

@reclaimingtrans @x_BlackHearts_x Im thinking another good strategy might be something like 'Im happy being trans, chose it myself, not here to argue', ie be an example of what a happy version of themselves might be, without giving their argument the credit of engagement.

@the_tweedy You can do your emotional/expressive/presentation equivalent of a steve jobs uniform bc other things need your decision-making energy. Facial hair is a good thing to play around with. It also depends what 'doing gender' encompasses for you.

@the_tweedy Idk if this is exactly what you mean; I feel stuck being pre-op and re clothing accessibility. Not a lot of options. In general I think its mostly about experimentation. And also you can take a break from Discovering Gender if its too much rn.

for CIS PEOPLE, I'm so curious - how often in your life have you been mistaken for the wrong gender just while going around your day to day life? addressed as the wrong pronoun or title, called the wrong thing, etc? how have other cis people reacted upon being corrected?
