For anybody on holiday 🏖️ this week while your clankers kept coding: there's been a High Church / Low Church schism ⛪️. Low Church - @dhh has hammered a piece of paper to the door 🚪, squint and it says "nothing between the model and the metal". Straight to assembly, no intermediate forms will survive. High Church - @GeoffreyHuntley, @josevalim et al - give the model a live runtime, types, supervision. Autolith, Erlang/Jido, OxCaml - agents can reach abstractions humans could only dream of. Both churches are saying “we have to go deeper”, they just disagree about which way is down ↕️.
